The inspiration for these Myssys came from the Pöytyä scenery. The open fields of ours are like the open sea to the others. Whereas some find peace of mind by the sea, for us it has always been the open fields by Aura river. Both bring the same sense of space and a sense of belonging. The old fire station of Mäkiäinen is like a lighthouse and the farms with grain silos like a bare islands in the sea. Let’s sail!

Care Instructions: All our garments are made of 100% organic Finnsheep wool and dyed by hand here at our Farm. Wool is a natural material that keeps itself clean. The lanolin - wool’s grease - naturally repels both dirt and water, hence it is not necessary to wash your Myssy garments. You can freshen up your garment by airing it out. However, if your Myssy product does get dirty or stretches out, it can be carefully hand-washed or machine-washed with a high-quality wool program. The garment should be dried flat and shaped while still wet. This way the product will recover its original appearance. Note: Myssy products cannot be washed in regular low-temperature washing machine programs. Only a high-quality wool program is acceptable for washing your Myssy, this way the water temperature is increased in proper increments, and the garment won’t get felted.

About Myssfarmi 

Myssy is the most original and organic hat you can find. Nothing in it's story fits the usual expectations. Or how does it sound to you:

Every Myssy is knitted by a real Myssy Grandma in Pöytyä. They get their unique hand-dyed yarn from a local herd of Finnsheep. Everything is organic and original in their farm and nothing is cool in Pöytyä. Except when winter hits these parts. That’s why people there have inherited the skills to knit the most perfect Myssys in the world.

The very first Myssy was made by Janne, a former professional windsurfer, who was stubborn, enough to learn how to knit his own hat. After touring the world for years, Janne returned home and found the love of his life: Anna, a designer born in Pöytyä, the same rural county as him, and the Myssy story was born.

Anna had deep roots in the farming culture, yet a career in the city. They settled into an old family farm, had four kids and decided to go all organic. They wanted to create a brand which had nothing to do with fashion as we know it.

They needed help. So they did what anyone in the countryside does: they turned to their neighbours! A nearby Rintala farm provided the Finnsheep wool they needed, and a host of local grannies provided their expert knitting skills.

Today Myssy beanies can be found in 16 countries across the globe from famous department stores to small boutiques. Yet every Myssy is still handmade by a local Myssy Granny, from the best organic spun Finnsheep wool. And while Pöytyä still isn’t quite what you would call a fashion capital, it seems that for some reason the Parisians really like to order our hats!

Perhaps, because Myssy will make you look like no one else.
